a warm and cozy fall

is there anything better than fall?

warm and cozy coats, sweaters, hats and mittens.

soup in the evening and homemade apple sauce simmering in the crock pot all day.

sitting around the fire and drinking cocoa after playing in the leaves all afternoon.

it’s getting dark so early now.

the fall sunlight is changing.

i love the soft glow in the kitchen in the late afternoon.

i walk around and turn on every lamp in the house.

i happily leave them on all day.

it’s so relaxing and peaceful.

i decided that the soft glow of christmas lights isn’t just for christmas time.

i strung a set up around the back door of our den.

the kids love them.

iris giggles when i turn them on in the morning.

the leaves have almost completely fallen off the trees.

on our way to preschool jonah announces from the back seat of the car all the colors of leaves he sees.

and iris calls loudly, “mama, pumkin! i see pumkin!” as we pass each house dressed up for the season.

our house, of course, is dressed up, too.

my sister, christie, is incredibly talented and makes beautiful things.

i asked her if she would make a bunch of fabric buntings for the house.

she said, yes. : )

she did such a great job. it turned out so blasted cute.

she made me 5 of them to drape across the front of our house, and i love it!

she doesn’t know it yet, but i’m also going to request some for christmas.

how cute would they be strung up next to christmas lights?

and, she has the most lovely fabrics for it, too.

you should stop in and take a look…

she’s not the only one that’s been hard at work crafting, though.

my kiddos made these little guys for each one of their cousins.

jonah wrote the names of his cousins on the back of each leaf.

(when did he get so big?)

and iris, very meticulously, glued each set of googly eyes on.

she’s so sweet.

oh, and mommy’s been crafting, too.

(that’s me… i’m mommy)

i’ve got plenty of new sets of pins to check out.

and, i’ve been working hard on wreaths, too.

how cute is the burlap paired with the chocolate brown and burnt orange?

i love these fabric roses and can’t get enough of them!

i hope you enjoy them, too.

the wreaths and pins are for sale in the shop now.

lazy summer days

how’s your summer going?

ours is good.

we’ve been super busy

doing lots and lots of nothing

and, it’s been great.

drawing with sidewalk chalk.

cookie baking.

sorting our cars.

(over and over)

snuggling. : )

movie watching.

taking long walks.

(well, as long as a 4 year old and 1 year old will allow)

flower picking.

and plenty of costume changing.

i also made this sweet wreath.

and, it’s in my shop.

please, stop in and take a look!

i hope you have a great day.

a file cabinet re-do

over the last few days i’ve been cleaning and organizing like crazy.

wiping out the pantry,  packing up clothes the kids have outgrown,

re- arranging the laundry room and sorting through the toy bins.

(i feel like i finally have time now that we’re on summer break.)

so, the other day in the middle of my cleaning spree

(while  i was neurotically wiping off the bookcase)

i looked up and saw papers.

piles and piles of papers.

papers with no place to call home.

i knew we needed a place for these stacks and fast.

within minutes i was on craig’s list and found this file cabinet for $25.00!

it was just what i needed!

pure, sweet luck.

i went  to pick it up and on the way home grabbed a couple of cans of the most lovely teal spray paint.

and 2-3 coats later…

 here she is!

all painted up and looking oh, so sweet.

i love that color.

that lovely, lovely color.

be still my heart.

after i awkwardly drug it inside and got it into place

i stuck a dry erase board to the side using

 double-sided foam tape.

i then took some of jonah’s old flash cards

snipped them down to size

and slipped them into place.

the perfect finishing touch. : )

 i filled her full

(and i do mean full)

of those sky high stacks of papers.

and, i’m a much, much happier girl.

cows & fabric

we’ve had quite the week around here.

between end of the year picnics, field trips, house work and soccer

we’ve been busy.

i’ve also been busy buying this!

 so, i can make these!

to put on this!

isn’t it pretty?!

and, they’re so much fun to make!

i love digging through my fabric stash and putting all of the colors together.

so cute!

they’re in my shop and looking for a good home. : )

a busy week

it’s been a very busy week.

the weather warmed up so we’ve spent a lot of time out and about.

it’s been lovely. just lovely.

we went to the library.

(the best part of the trip… the windows)

for the first time in weeks we had soccer practice.

and a week would not be complete without a trip to target. (and a trip to the snack bar)

i’ve also been hard at work trying to get my shop filled back up. yay!

i’ve been crafting. up to my elbows in fabric scraps. mmm… fabric scraps.

i decided our house needed some spring inside, too. so, i got to work making fabric garland.

they’re so pretty that i had to make a few and put them up all over the house.

simple and so sweet.

spring snow & scrabble tile magnets

Snowy Jonahwell, it’s spring time in colorado and that usually means snow.

Snow Yard

Snow Storm in April of 2013

lots and lots of snow.

Snow Irislots of soggy coats, hats and mittens.Sleepy Iris and, plenty of steamy baths and hot meals to warm up my babes. Scrabble Tile Magnetsall that snow and sitting around the house was the perfect excuse to finally figure out what to do with my thrift store scabble tile. so, i went to work. IMG_2258i had a roll of magnets and i simply snipped and placed them on the back of each tile. easy peasy. IMG_2261 they don’t really hold anything up on the fridge, but my  4 year old son thinks they’re great. he’s been spelling small words for days now. see, he can hardly keep his hands (and dirty fingernails) off them for a picture.
